Lush European Style Wedding Inspiration

So, I’m bumping today’s scheduled post to share a styled shoot that I had the pleasure of designing the paper and printed items for.  The shoot was/is for a wedding magazine that hit newsstands this week, and we are now free to share all the prettiness.  I love styled shoots.  Love them.  Probably the thing I love most about them is working with fabulous creatives, which I’m sure I’ve said one too many times.  Melissa Nickel, owner Blossom Sweet, asked me to collaborate on a shoot and I jumped at the chance because her floral work is off-the-charts (see for yourself … again) and because Alixann Loosle was joining the party and photographing the whole day.  Alix’s work is incredible; no doubt you’ve seen her work before.  Honestly, the entire crew of vendors was tops, and I was thrilled at the honor of being able to work with them.  (Informally, I was just looking forward to hanging out behind the scenes with everyone.)

The day of the shoot turned out to be surprisingly cold.  It was late spring/early summer that we shot it (can you believe we could wait that long without giving any little peeks?) so normally it would have been the most beautiful weather.  However, since there can never be a styled shoot without a hiccup or two (just like a wedding,) we were huddled in the corners and behind trees.

I did the invitation suite, thank you sign and the printed details.  I studied watercolor in high school and the first part of college, then left it to learn how to throw pottery.  I came back to watercolor a number of years ago when I dove into the wedding world – this suite is going to be available in my shop later this month.  For the menus, I used a lovely calligraphy font, Jacques and Giles, and had them screen printed in grey on linen napkins.  You’d be surprised to know that screen printing isn’t all that expensive, plus a pretty printed napkin could easily double as a favor.

I’m in love with this. It couldn’t be any prettier and honestly, it’s about time that macaron cakes got some flower power!!

The Secret Garden was my favorite book, too! I have yet to convince my kids to even attempt to read it yet, though….

You know, I’m not sure. I remember people were talking about it…you could email Julie at Layers Cake (link is in the credits) and see if she can direct you. Good luck!
